Deputy Minister Kakar talks with Afghan diaspora and Afghan migrants in Turkey
During his visit to Turkey, Wafiullah Kakar, Deputy Minister of Refugees Affairs, met with several diaspora and Afghan migrants in Ankara and listened to their challenges, wishes and proposals.
The diaspora and Afghan migrants expressed their appreciation to Deputy Minister Kakar and discussed and shared their proposals on behalf of Afghan migrants’ groups.
HE Kakar stated that the purpose of the meeting was to inform himself about the Afghan diaspora's situation and explain the content of the memorandum of understanding between Afghanistan and Turkey on migration. He assured that no document would be signed to the disadvantage of Afghan migrants; instead, this document will make the repatriation and migration process transparent, increase the oversight role of the Afghan government and international institutions, and the process of return must comply with all international rules.
The Deputy Minister for Refugee Affairs added that this memorandum of understanding emphasizes the humanitarian treatment of Afghan migrants in Turkey.
Apart from that, Afghan migrants and diaspora called for the start of the process of distributing electronic ID cards to Afghans in Turkey.
