The Ministry of Refugees and Repatriations, in collaboration with the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA), convened a technical meeting today, addressing the issues and challenges faced by Afghan refugees and internally displaced Afgh

The Minister of Refugees and Repatriations, Maulawi Abdul Kabir, extended a warm welcome to the I.E.A. Institutions and International Organizations. He expressed assurance & Positive outcome regarding the Topic of the discussions, emphasizing the critical need for assistance to both refugees and displaced families.
Mr. Abdul Kabir highlighted the profound impact of Decades of conflicts in Afghanistan, which has resulted in millions of Afghans being displaced or forced to migrate. He condemned the expulsion of Afghan refugees from Pakistan, mentioning that such actions and the treatment of these individuals have raised hatred within the Countries.
Mr. Minister called for an increase in assistance, by the provision of necessary resources, and addressing the main challenges of the Refugees. He also urged attendees to contribute to the rebuilding of shelters for the affected individuals.
Representative from UNAMA and other United Nations agencies shared their insights with participants, emphasizing their ongoing commitment to support refugee-related issues throughout the year. Indrika Ratwatte reported that since 2023, eight hundred thousand refugees returned from Pakistan.
According to the UNAMA Deputy Head, the United Nations and other relevant agencies spent $183 million on humanitarian assistance last year, and he assured of continued assistance to Afghans.
During the meeting, relevant UN agencies and other international humanitarian organizations shared their plans and activities, and also listened to the participants' suggestions for their future efforts and assistance. During their addresses, they acknowledged the proposals and statements from the discussion.
Representatives from various ministries, including Public Health, Economy, Agriculture, Education, Rural Rehabilitation and Development, Urban Development and Housing, Labor and Social Affairs Ministries & Afghan Red Crescent, National Disaster Management and National Statistics and Information Authorities, presented their collaborative plans to enhance service delivery for Afghan refugees.
