Deputy minister Wafiulaah Kakar represented the Islamic republic of Afghanistan at the Budapest Process senior level meeting which was chaired by the Republic of Turkey and conducted virtually.
In this statement, the deputy minister said that the Afghan government’s work on a comprehensive migration policy underway. Additionally, a post peace return strategy has been finished, a strategy on legalizing migration with focus on labor migration in being developed.
He further stated that prevention and response to human smuggling and trafficking along _side integrated border management are other priority area for the Afghanistan government.
Mr. Kakar also referred to the joint declaration on migration cooperation (JDMC) with EU, the action plan on return from Pakistan under APAPPS, the issuance of electronica Afghan citizenship identity cards to afghans in Iran and government’s plan to engaged with the republic of Turkey on voluntary return, dignified and gradual return of Afghans; taking into account the integration needs of these returns.
