Talks between Deputy Minister Kakar and Afghan Ambassador to Turkey

Wafiullah Kakar, Deputy Minister for Refugee Affairs, as head of a delegation, is visiting Turkey to discuss a memorandum of understanding with the government of Turkey and to monitor the situation of Afghan migrants in the camps. On his first day, he exchanged with Afghan ambassador Amir Mohammad Ramin.
HE Kakar refers to the high number of Afghan migrants in Turkey and highlights the importance of a memorandum of understanding between both countries to prevent illegal migration and regulate the migration process.
Referring to the Afghan government's commitment and responsibility to the people and migrants, Mr. Kakar says: "The government is working to make people aware of the negative effects of irregular migration. However, some of our nationals - despite their awareness - still take such a dangerous journey. Having a framework for cooperation between the two countries in the field of migration can be a suitable option for strengthening regular migration and reducing the rate of illegal migrants.”
Meanwhile, the Afghan ambassador welcomed the decision, calling the memorandum of cooperation with Turkey a reasonable means to control illegal migration.
Deputy Minister Kakar previously exchanged with the Turkish deputy ambassador to Afghanistan to discuss the situation of Afghan migrants in Turkey and how to process their return to their homeland.
