Deputy Minister for Refugee Affairs Mr. Wafiullah Kakar and several
heads of the Directorate for Refugees and Repatriations (DoRR), the head of the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the representative of the European Union (EU) Delegation in Kabul, and the country coordinator of the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) in Afghanistan attended a review of the capacity building program of the Ministry of Refugees and Repatriations (MoRR) on Sunday, 11 April 2021.
Deputy Minister Kakar described this gathering as a positive step towards better services provided by the Ministry to Afghan refugees, returnees, IDPs and expressed optimism about the program's start.
The participants emphasized increasing coordination and closer cooperation between the IOM and the MoRR to implement it and achieve positive and valuable results in improving the capacity of the Ministry's staff.
The country director of the IOM appreciated the participation of Deputy Minister Kakar and heads of DoRRs and the representatives of the EU and the ICMPD in this workshop and their support for the implementation of this program and emphasized the continuation of the cooperation with the Ministry in various fields.
The EU Representative, Mr. Yama Omari, stressed the EU's continued assistance and interest in the migration sector and expressed the support of the EU to the implementation of such programs.
The IOM will run the capacity building program of the MoRR under the Afghan Reintegration and Development Assistance (RADA). The RADA project covers the issue of the sustainable integration of returnees funded by the EU and implemented by IOM under the Ministry's supervision.
In the end, Deputy Minister Wafiullah Kakar highlighted the preparation and formulation of a coherent strategy for the realization of this program which shall be designed jointly with the IOM. He described the coordination between the Ministry and institutions active in the migration sector as good and underlined the need to further improve the cooperation process further.
