Wafiullah Kakar met with Ms. Caroline Van Buren (UNHCR country director) and Mr. Stuart Simpson (IOM country director) and discussed how to effectively implement the return program of Afghan migrants under Afghanistan-Pakistan Action Plan for Peace and Solidarity Plan (APAPPS) on Wednesday, 21 April 2021.
At the beginning of the meeting, the draft of the repatriation program from Pakistan, prepared by the MoRR, was presented to the participants, and the UNHCR and IOM representatives commented.
According to the return program, 50,000 Afghan migrants are expected to repatriate from Pakistan annually. They shall be provided with humanitarian services and assistance for sustainable placement in their original areas. The Administrative Office of the President instructed the realization of APAPPS.
Eventually, the three sides decided to set up a technical team to work on the practical implementation of this return program.
