Deputy Minister Kakar exchanges with Indian Ambassador Besides other challenges to Afghan migrants, the reduction of fines for Afghan overstaying in India was discussed

Wafiullah Kakar (Deputy Minister for Refugee Affairs) explored with Shri Rudrendra Tandon (Indian Ambassador to Afghanistan) possibilities of finding solutions for the problems facing Afghan migrants living in India, in particular the reduction of the fine for Afghans overstaying in India.
Deputy Minister Kakar underlined the long-standing cooperation between Afghanistan and India, as well as the very good relations between the two countries, and thanked India for hosting Afghan migrants.
HE Kakar called on the Indian Ambassador to assist in decreasing the fine for Afghans overstaying in India. Recently, the penalty was increased from 2,000 to 50,000 Indian Rupees. Ambassador Tandon promised to raise this issue with his government and assured his collaboration in this matter.
Deputy Minister Kakar also raised the concern of some Afghan prisoners who do not have access to legal aid. Ambassador Tandon assured to raise and address the issue with the Indian government.
