Delivering of assistance in first days of displacement must be a priority

Mr. Wafiullah Kakar, Deputy Minister of Refugees Affairs, stressed in a meeting with officials from the Danish Refugee Committee (DRC) in Afghanistan the need to focus more on providing assistance in the first days of displacements. Both sides discussed the IDPs situation in Helmand and Kandahar.

Mr. Wafiullah Kakar called on the ministry's partner institutions to provide food and non-food items to the needy people in the earliest phase, ideally within 72 hours of displacement. Mr. Kakar also asked DRC, which leads the Emergency Response Mechanism (ERM) consortium, to coordinate its assistance closely with the MoRR and its directorates in the provinces in order to provide rapid and better services for the displaced people.
